Mafia Init error 4214

Hello everyone,

I’m trying to run Mafia: The city of lost heaven on windows 8.1, and I get this error:Â

“Init error 4214 Unsuported..” I opened error log, and it says: “ERROR! DirectX version is lower 8.1 !”

So, of course i’m running dx 11, can’t install lower versions.

Searched internet, tried few things:Â http://support.2k.com/hc/en-us/articles/201332423-Init-Error-4215-or-4205-when-I-try-to-start-Mafia

Changing game settings doesn’t help, and of course i think since windows vista, there’s no Hardware Sound Acceleration settings.

Of course i tried to run as admin, compatibility modes. No luck.

So i’m really stuck with this problem.

Damn, this looks sad. I’ve never had win8 or a dx11 GPU, but I’ve never encountered this problem neither with dx9 nor dx10 (above 8.1, according to the same logic). So not sure if I can help you. Let’s hope some other members know of a way to cope with this problem

They say it must be the fault of Windows 8.1 OS itself and it’s interfering with something in Mafia
