Has anyone else not seen this. I have been playing the game for ten years, and cruising youtube for a few, when I ran across this I was floored.


 


 




The inspiration for the Gallery was about 300 miles away from the developers in Vienna

General, Off Topic / LA Noire for the PC

Just walked into my local discount store (Target) to buy some cat food. I thought I'd peruse the software aisle, and what to my wondering eyes should appear, but a miniture sleigh and eight tiny.....erÃâà I mean LA Noire PC DVD (not even focacan steam, straight load to my computer)


 




Apparently they just released it last week for the PC.Ãâà  So.....I got it, and I am installing it as we speak.....I'll let you know how it goes

I have a building request, please


 




I am looking for a small, hovel apartment like Carlos in the Bon Apetite Mission.Ãâà  I really like the stairs in that mission too, but the apartment has to be be bigger (more rooms the smallish size of the rooms are good) . I would like a kitchen, a bathroom,Ãâà 2 bedrooms, a common room, an entry wayÃâà and I would like windows on two sides.


 




This is going to be for the 1922 version of Capoletti the small apartment of Tomas Capoletti and his small familyÃâà


 




(I will probably use it twice, and decorate it differently)


 




I was going to use that mission...again, but then saw your offer to make buildings so I thought I'd ask you. I am not all that great at model building


 




Let me me know if that is something you could do....if you are otherwise engaged, I completely understand

Here is a list of what I call "Matteo Mods" individual little game changers I have made over the years


 


 


 




1. Free N Easy - My first mod so named because I wanted a mod where everything was free. I got tired of driving around to places to accomplish game saving, healing, car repair et al so I used the objective key to accomplish this all in one stroke (inspired by Askay, and his freeitaly mod, which first used the key for a purpose) This was also the first appearance of my Car Hopping Tommy Gun that no one liked, and a day to night switch using Ralph's Door in the Saliery Garage (which is Open) and a few other things


 


 


 




2. Car Cheat Mod Replaces mission one, and gives you the ability to steal all cars from the beginning of the game


 


 


 




3. K/G Mod A simple file swap with audio files that were already in the game,that make MOST of the people of Lost Heaven Kinder and Gentler


 


 


 


 




4. Villa Mod 2.0 Have the Villa as your very own in freeride. Transferred the setting to daytime (sunset) and there is a party going on. In Version 2.0 you can drive right in.


 


 


 


 




5. Uptown Mod Turns China Town into an Italian Quarter. People, Buildings, Music and Decorations. Includes a Bar for Tommy's crew that was scheduled for Capo Mod 5 but now scrapped from it.

The Story:




Taking off on Capo Mod V1, You were forgiven by Saliery because he needed your muscle and connections to help reassert his power over Lost Heaven. Now that you have achieved the dominance for him, you feel he is growing distance and you find yourself wondering, how long will his forgiveness last once he no longer needs you?


 




Capo Mod V2 Is built onto Capo Mod V1 with very few changes to the original. There is just more places to go, more things to do, a few more people to interact with.

As Capo Tom has the following duties (From Capo Mod V1)


 




Collect the protection fees for each area in town (A man is located at each Elevated train Station)


 




Collect Racket Fees For




Transportation and Cigars (In the Central Island Garage)




Smuggling (In the Port)




Front Feeâââ‰â¢s (in Pepeâââ‰â¢s Restaurant)




Numbers (In Office Connected to Pepeâââ‰â¢s and Freeride)




Loan Fees (In the Bank (and a little sugar in the vault))




Bootleg Fees (In The Ale Warehouse)




Bootleg Fees (In The Barn) (new)




The East Side Racket Fees (In Clarks Motel which is your east side compound.)




All of these Collection points are pretty mild, there are no fights here, (except for the port mission. If you enter the port mission with a gun drawn things will go badly.) Look for the Valise(s) in each location to collect the money




Entrances to all these places are at the normal front door locations. There are two new entrance locations. The office can be entered by the stairway door across from the New Ark Warp Booth The office can also be entered by the double doors by the bar in Pepeâââ‰â¢s. The ale warehouse is in the building opposite the driveway from the works quarters warp booth.


 




Keep the peace and knock down uprising gangs


 




Objective




The Commission is unhappy with Saliery and they are willing to grant you ascendance to head of the Lost Heaven Family. As you fear that Saliery will soon be looking to do you in, if not already trying to do so quietly, you agree with the commission. The commission however requires proof of your abilities, so they want you to collect 10 million dollars before they will bless your ascendance and the sanction of Don Saliery


 




Features:


 




Warp Points




There is a warp point in each section of the city. The warp points are in selected phone booths except for Hoboken which is in the hideout (check out the back blue door) and in Salieryâââ‰â¢s Garage, the double doors in the back.




From any warp point in the city it will take you to Central Island. From Central Island warp point you can choose to go to any other warp pint


 




Gangs




There are five gangs that keep gathering in the east side of Lost Heaven (Morelloâââ‰â¢s old turf) it is your job as capo to knock these down. Every time you load a side mission and return to Freeride they will be regenerated.




The street walking gang members are still aroundâââ¬Ã¦.but what kind of control would Saliery have if they drove around town with impunity. The gangsters in cars are gone (well mostly, you might still find a few brave mugs driving around)


 




Body Guards




There are five body guards at Salieryâââ‰â¢s place who will follow you, when you click on them and will fight and protect you. They also regenerate on loads, and when you enter a side mission they leave you and return to Salieryâââ‰â¢s


 




Weapons


 




Weapons are free both at your hideout and at Salieryâââ‰â¢s save your money for that Ten Million. The Tommy Gun (which you start with) is now one handed and very powerfulâââ¬Ã¦.it also does not trigger the cops unless you fire it. You can walk around with it drawn.


 




The Objective (f1) Key


 




Building off a previous modâââ¬Ã¦turbo mod by askay, the f1 key now heals you to 300 points, automatically saves your game and if you are in a car it will repair it automatically. Also the repair feature includes an instant stop which can act as an emergency breakâââ¬Ã¦..can you say light house (watchout for the gang there.)

Use data xtractor to extract all your files (if you have not done so.


 




Delete the following files from your missions folder (or copy then delete)

Notice for slower computer users. Copy the scene2.bin file from the mission file freeridenoudd  to your Freeride folder if you have problems with the UDD feature slowing down your game.

When I needed a ballroom for my committee meeting, (as a cover) I wanted a big fancy place just like the Art Gallery, but there is no wide expanse of flooring in the art gallery.....so I made one, using the textures in the game

Every time I see the picture of Salvatore Maranazano, victor of the Castellammarese Wars and and Capo Di Tutti Capo for a few months until Luciano dropped him, I don't see the hardened mob guy. The picture makes him look like a mild mannered fop. Then I ran across this other picture that is purported to also be Maranzno, but it doesn't look "real"  I know photography in the 20's had advanced, because we have very good pictures of all the other guys.....so what do you think?  Same Guy


 







 




Same mouth, same hooded eyes, same mark on the forehead..


 




Different hairline, the nose looks different (though that may be an angle)


 




The new picture, looks like a friggin mob boss to me.

Side question, in the movie "Mobsters" with Christian Slater as Luciano they kept Masseria's story intact, but they changed Maranzano's name to Faranzano and changed the way he was killed....any one have a clue as to why they made that change?

From the beginning it bugged me that they never did anything with this, I tought of doing things with it, but it would clog traffic...Just one of the interesting things that someone thought about, made part of the main map, then never really did anything with it.

Mafia Mod Request / New Mod Question

Alright, I am experimenting with a new mod Idea and just throwing things on the game and seeing if they work


 




I am thinking of having a San Francisco Mob location so I am playing with the Golden Gate Bridge, which was under construction in the mid 1930's


 




the problem I am having is with a model that is not showing up unless I am right on it, I can't see it from far off

I have the view distance set way back, and removed all the occluders. There is no cache.bin so i did't use UDD


 




Although I tried the same set up in freeride with the same results, UDD applied,


 


 




Any ideas on how to get this thing to show long distance?

Somewhere at the soon after Mafia 2 Came out, I tried modding it, and was gravely disappointed with my efforts, as I was with the game.  In the two years hence, I have softened somewhat on the game and even enjoy playing it on occasion


 




When Costa broke the game and found and released his freeride mode, there was a glimmer of hope.  So I tried again


 




I called my freeride mod Redemption Mod because I had hopes of really changing it. Redeeming the game from what I thought back then was awful







 




Basically it is freeride, with a couple of additions.  V1.3 is where I stopped, and put away the game. (In version 1 Joe would start in random places and it was your job to find and kill him, but I could not find away to tweak the game so Joe and Henry,  could be killed.  So  I made Henry  the capo and Vito goes to the Freddy's , clicks on Henry and gets one of 25 missions that roll in order. These missions appear as text on the screen (I could not make Henry talk)  and they ONLY work in English. He also pays you for each mission, then you go on your own and do everything from blowing up diners and gas stations to keeping the police busy on the other side of town, while the family pulls something on this side.


 




Joe is at the OTHER bar the Maltese Falcon and you can pick him up for a ride along and help....if you can stand his bitching about your driving  ;o)
