Title: How to make Mafia World Editor work in Windows 8 x64
Post by: Paul Diaz-Berrio on September 10, 2013, 07:23:21 PM
I have installed Mafia World Editor on my computer, which has Windows 8 64 bit. It works until I attempt to load a mission or open a 4ds file and then it crashes and an error message saying this program has stopped working. Please advise me on how to make this program work on my system.

I used Mafia World Editor on my previous computer, which had Windows XP. I tried changing the compatibility settings to Windows XP, but I still cannot get the program to work.

"This program has stopped working." This is the standard error when a program doesnôt work properly. A dialogue box with this message appears and then claims that Windows is checking for a problem to the solution, which in my case, it doesnôt find one.

Can you please provide me with one?

Here are some steps you can take to address the issue:

Try running the game in Compatibility mode. If the game is not compatible with your version of Windows, try running the game in Compatibility mode by logging on to the computer as an administrator. Then browse to the games executable file, right-click on the file and click Properties, click the Compatibility tab, place a check in the Run this program in compatibility mode for: and select the version of Windows previous to the your current version. Click OK and then test the game.

Check for updates to your game software. Some games install other software such as punkbuster that is used to detect cheating. If this software is disabled, or if your PCs settings cause a violation, you may see the APPCRASH error and be kicked out of the game. You can check for known issues and updates for the game by visiting the game publisherââ¬â¢s website.

Update Microsoft DirectX. To diagnose DirectX problems and to make sure you have the latest version, see Diagnosing basic problems with DirectX

Update your drivers. Click the link specific to your version of Windows and follow the steps in the that article to update your Video and Sound card drivers:

I'm sorry, but none of this works for me. Besides the Raw.dll file and the missions and models directories, what else do I need to make Mafia World Editor work. Please remind me.
