Released in 2002, Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven introduced players to a cinematic crime story built around loyalty, consequence and the dangerous world of organized crime.
Rather than treating its city as a playground without consequences, Mafia made Lost Heaven feel like a real place. Traffic laws mattered. Police responded to reckless driving. Vehicles handled according to their era. Every journey through the city helped establish its atmosphere.
Welcome to Lost Heaven
Set during the 1930s, Lost Heaven draws inspiration from American cities shaped by Prohibition, economic hardship and organized crime.
Its districts move from crowded downtown streets to industrial neighborhoods, affluent suburbs and open countryside. Rain, streetlights, period vehicles and the game’s music give the city an identity that remains recognizable decades later.
The story of Tommy Angelo
Tommy begins as an ordinary taxi driver whose unexpected encounter with members of the Salieri family changes his life.
His rise through the organization is not presented as a simple power fantasy. Mafia follows the personal cost of that life: the compromises, relationships and decisions that gradually leave Tommy with fewer ways out.
