Hello there guys! As you know, Hidden and dangerous 2 is also using LS3D engine. So I unpacked .dta files and made some research. File structure is very similliar to Mafia. But there's a problem, I'm not able to open .4ds in MWE, Zmodeler or in Mafia. They just aren't compatible. I'm able to open scene2.bin in DCED. But structure is different, for example scripts are in separated files. My question is, did somebody ever converted .4ds files from H&D2 to Mafia? .4ds files is all I want.

I use H&D2 models in my Mafia mod. I use 4ds-script for 3dsMax to convert them to Zmodeler.

I have already imported H&D2 files to 3DSmax.




When I save it as .3DS and import it to Zmodeler 1.07b, they don't have textures! It seems for me, that 3DSmax just cannot export file to .3DS with textures. Or it's not true?

Hmmm ... I always get error "Bitmap have no 8.3 name" and that stupid programe rename texture and everything is fucked up. Which format do you use for "translation" between Zmodeler and 3DSmax?

1) Copy *.4ds and textures from H&D2 directory to new directory. It's not so important but it's real help you:

2) Run 3D Studio Max and run 4ds script by Mr F:

3) Use the script to Import your H&D2 mesh:

4) You see something like this:

5) Remove all dummies and rotate a mesh on a 180. After that, export it to *.3ds:

6) So, now you must invert the texture:

7) Run Zmodeler and import your model:

No. So, this games based on LS3D, but the structure of thise games is not same. I try to convert H&D levels into Mafia, but is use 3d ripper DX to rip the scene from game and I use 3dsMax and Zmodeler to convert scene into Mafia. There are 4 games on LS3D: Mafia, H&D 2, Kameleon and Wings of war. Kameleon's archives can't be unpacked, but i rip some models frome thise game using Game assasin and 3D Ripper DX.

So, I think that there are now normal models in H&D2. Models from this game is badly than original models in Mafia. If you want a normal models of buildings, static vehicles and props, you beter find another game such Commandos: Strike force, Boiling poin: Road to Hell, Wolfenstein (2009), Call of Duty 2.

How I recorgnize, which texture is for which material?

In 3dsMax mterial have a same name with texture. But weapon textures include weapon name. Example "W_98kFPW" is a texture for Mauser 98K rifle. If you need a fuul scene from the game, you must use Game assasin to rip the scene.

Not from game files of H&D2. GA ripper can ripp 3d models and scenes from many modern games, but you import the scene like any another  3d scenesmodels.

I tried to use that program but it's not able to capture whole scene. There are tools available for opening .4ds files of H&D2 in 3ds Max. Have a look at my thread @ hidden-and-dangerous.net (http://www.hidden-and-dangerous.net/board/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=2003:1g37aa7z). I'm currently working on a new version of an editor which allows editing of most files found in H&D2, including scene2.bin and collisions. Maybe I'll try to adapt this one for Mafia and Chameleon, too, if someone needs that.

Unpacking of Chameleons .dta files is possible. I've recently developed an unpacker which is able to unpack both ISD0 and ISD1 archives. I'll release it soon.

I'm able to open H&D2 4ds in 3DSmax but I'm not able to export it corretly. When I open .3DS file in Zmodeler, it don't have textures. And in material editor, there are several materielas but without textures assigned.




I tried to look to materials in 3DSmax, but there's only one material called "multimaterial".

So, you must remade material in Zmodelere. Just create a copy of default material in material editor and load texture in this material. After that, clic on a "select->quadr" nad select your model. Next press "1" on yur keyboard, press space button and clic on yor model again. Next, select all parts of your model and press Ctrl + A. Chouse your material.

For example, whole scene.4ds?

You must create many materials and texture every model (part of the scene). It's a hard work, but I dont know another way.
