Using Car Skins

Introduction
Ill explain this in steps refering to the Jaguar E-Type skin pack as a reference.

1. MafiaDataXtractor
OK, first of all you need to get a copy of Mafia Data Xtractor available from Downloads/Tools or the link above. This patches the game so that it can read information stored in folders. All of Mafia?s files are stored in .dta archives with the game patched it will look if there?s any files it can use in the folders, If not it will just use the files in the .dta archives. Fire up Mafia Data Extractor then exit the program to patch Mafia (you don’t need to extract any files).

2. Choose skin color
After downloading the file choose the colour of the skin you want to apply to the car (If your not sure what file is what colour, try opening them up in an Image editing program).

3. Copying files
Copy this file to your maps folder in the mafia directory (This should only exist if you have created it before or have extracted textures from the game, otherwise just create a new folder in your Mafia directory called ‘maps’.

4. Delete compressed files
If you have run Mafia with this car before or with a different skin, then it is likely that Mafia has left behind a .dx1 file. This just contains the image in a compressed format that the Mafia game engine uses. The file should be called E-TYPE_10.DX1 or E-TYPE_10.565 if it’s there delete it. If not don’t worry about it, you have less work to do.

5. Enjoy
Run Mafia and enjoy your new spray job!
