Using Car Models

OK, First of all you need to get a copy of Mafia Data Xtractor available from Downloads/Tools or the link above. This patches the game so that it can read information stored in folders. All of Mafia’s files are stored in .dta archives with the game patched it will look if there?s any files it can use in the folders, If not it will just use the files in the .dta archives.
Fire up Mafia Data Extractor then exit the program to patch Mafia (you don’t need to extract any files).

Get a car model
For the purpose of this tutorial I will be using the Mercedes-Benz SL300 Gullwing, though the same method should be applicable to all car models. You can download this from download – carmodels.

This file is zipped up so can you guess what you have to do next?…. Thats right! unzip it, just download WinACE or WinZIP if you dont have anything to unzip it with.

Installing
Now once you have the file unzipped goto the directory (folder) that you unziped it to, there should be a folder called SL300m and a text file called Download. Open up the SL300m folder, it contains two folders (Maps and Models) and one text document called readme. Have a look in your Mafia directory, (the place where you installed Mafia). If you find that you dont have the two folders one named Maps the other named Models then just copy the two folders (Maps and Models) straight to your Mafia directory. If you see you already have one or two of these folders then just copy over the contents of the folder(s) to into the existing folder(s). e.g phantom00.4ds in the Models directory of the unzipped zip file would be copied to your Models directory in your Mafia folder.
