The Story of .com and .net
MafiaScene.com was the original home for modders, storytellers, and fans of the Mafia series. For many years it served as the central hub of the community.
During a period of severe server instability and downtime, a second site — MafiaScene.net — was created in 2013 to ensure the community would not lose its home. What began as a temporary refuge quickly became a lifeline for members who simply wanted to continue building, sharing, and collaborating.
As noted in a 2014 archived post on MafiaScene.com:
“Some of you may know about a similar website sharing the same title as ours; Mafiascene.net. During the downtime of MS.com a while back, Mafia fan Joshua created a second Mafiascene for the remaining modders and fans that once used to come here on MS.com to let them continue working on their mods or sharing their stories. After a slight struggle in the beginning between .com and .net we're happy to announce that both websites will join forces and will work together from now on.”
From that point forward, the goal was never competition, it was preservation. MafiaScene.net has proudly carried the torch of the original community since 2013, maintaining the spirit, creativity, and camaraderie that defined MafiaScene.com.
This page exists to honor the original .com era and the foundation it built. Without it, none of this would exist.
