Mod Help / M1 - sounds at specific locations
October 26, 2011, 03:42:42 PM
I am sure there is the right way, and then there is my way.

I'll tell you my way.Ãâà  UsingÃâà Z modeler I removed all the texture from a character model (In this case TommyOLD.i3d) and renamed it (To TommyOLD1.i3d)

Now I can place this model anywhere, and set it on a loop of talking the same thing over and over again. We know that the talking is nothing but a wav files with 8 numbers in the title so I take the sound effect I need, record if it as a .wav and name it in the speech range ( like 36661001.wav). it has to have those 8 digits or it won't behave like speech and won't work.

When you place the character, make sure you make use the "No Reaction" option for the character or your invisible sound effect character will get up and run awayÃâà ;o)

But this works really well for localized sound effects, like:

The water sound effect for this fountain

The train Sounds

As usual , not being well versed in programming I found a way to make things work, and they work well.....but its not the right way ;o)

Mafia General Discussion / The Art Gallery

Has anyone else not seen this. I have been playing the game for ten years, and cruising youtube for a few, when I ran across this I was floored.

The inspiration for the Gallery was about 300 miles away from the developers in Vienna

Mike Bruski's Mods / Building Request
November 16, 2011, 07:34:53 PM
Hey Mike,

I have a building request, please

I am looking for a small, hovel apartment like Carlos in the Bon Apetite Mission.Ãâà  I really like the stairs in that mission too, but the apartment has to be be bigger (more rooms the smallish size of the rooms are good) . I would like a kitchen, a bathroom,Ãâà 2 bedrooms, a common room, an entry wayÃâà and I would like windows on two sides.

This is going to be for the 1922 version of Capoletti the small apartment of Tomas Capoletti and his small familyÃâà

(I will probably use it twice, and decorate it differently)

I was going to use that mission...again, but then saw your offer to make buildings so I thought I'd ask you. I am not all that great at model building

Let me me know if that is something you could do....if you are otherwise engaged, I completely understand

Thanks

Matteo's Mods / Matteo Mods
February 13, 2012, 09:39:06 PM
Here is a list of what I call "Matteo Mods" individual little game changers I have made over the years

1. Free N Easy - My first mod so named because I wanted a mod where everything was free. I got tired of driving around to places to accomplish game saving, healing, car repair et al so I used the objective key to accomplish this all in one stroke (inspired by Askay, and his freeitaly mod, which first used the key for a purpose) This was also the first appearance of my Car Hopping Tommy Gun that no one liked, and a day to night switch using Ralph's Door in the Saliery Garage (which is Open) and a few other things

2. Car Cheat Mod Replaces mission one, and gives you the ability to steal all cars from the beginning of the game.

3. K/G Mod A simple file swap with audio files that were already in the game, that make MOST of the people of Lost Heaven Kinder and Gentler

4. Villa Mod 2.0 Have the Villa as your very own in freeride. Transferred the setting to daytime (sunset) and there is a party going on. In Version 2.0 you can drive right in.

5. Uptown Mod Turns China Town into an Italian Quarter. People, Buildings, Music and Decorations. Includes a Bar for Tommy's crew that was scheduled for Capo Mod 5 but now scrapped from it.

6. Boxing Mod replace the tutorial with a boxing ring and a variety of Opponents from a super badass to a little girl...who can kick your butt

Along with Various other Capo Mods and The Capoletti Mod I am Currently Working On

Every time I see the picture of Salvatore Maranazano, victor of the Castellammarese Wars and and Capo Di Tutti Capo for a few months until Luciano dropped him, I don't see the hardened mob guy. The picture makes him look like a mild mannered fop. Then I ran across this other picture that is purported to also be Maranzno, but it doesn't look "real"  I know photography in the 20's had advanced, because we have very good pictures of all the other guys.....so what do you think?  Same Guy

Same mouth, same hooded eyes, same mark on the forehead..

Different hairline, the nose looks different (though that may be an angle)

The new picture, looks like a friggin mob boss to me.

So would the real Salvatore Maranzano please stand up?

Eh...never mind, take a rest. (After Luciano's friends had their meeting)

Side question, in the movie "Mobsters" with Christian Slater as Luciano they kept Masseria's story intact, but they changed Maranzano's name to Faranzano and changed the way he was killed....any one have a clue as to why they made that change?

Modern scholars believe that its seeds were planted in the upheaval of Sicilyâââ‰â¢s transition out of feudalism in 1812 and its later annexation by mainland Italy in 1860. Under feudalism, the nobility owned most of the land and enforced law and order through their private armies. After 1812, the feudal barons steadily sold off or rented their lands to private citizens. Primogeniture was abolished, land could no longer be seized to settle debts, and one fifth of the land was to become private property of the peasants. After Italy annexed Sicily in 1860, it redistributed a large share of public and church land to private citizens. The result was a huge boom in landowners: from 2,000 in 1812 to 20,000 by 1861. The nobles also released their private armies to let the state take over the task of law enforcement. However, the authorities were incapable of properly enforcing property rights and contracts, largely due to their inexperience with free market capitalism. Lack of manpower was also a problem: there were often less than 350 active policemen for the entire island. Some towns did not have any permanent police force, only visited every few months by some troops to collect malcontents, leaving criminals to operate with impunity from the law in the interim. With more property owners came more disputes that needed settling, contracts that needed enforcing, and properties that needed protecting. Because the authorities were undermanned and unreliable, property owners turned to extralegal arbitrators and protectors. These extralegal protectors would eventually organize themselves into the first Mafia clans.

Banditry was a growing problem at the time. Rising food prices, the loss of public and church lands, and the loss of feudal common rights pushed many desperate peasants to banditry. In response, local elites in countryside towns recruited young men into âââ¬Ãâcompanies-at-armsâââ¬
