In 50 second, we see cops leaving the car and the beacon's still working. But when I drive a cop car with working beacon and when I leave it, this beacon stops. Could it be changed some way ? I mean making a beacon working even after leaving a car. Hope you'll understand.

Most of you was thinking why after replacing the car (I mean after copying files to game folders 'Maps' and 'Models'; rarely we copy files to folders 'Anims', 'Sounds', 'Tables' etc.) we see original models in the game.


 




At the beginning I'd like to say that it's not enough to copy files to relevant folders. I'll explain you using an example: we want to change e.g. fire brigade car. So we look for file named fire00.4ds (file which is in folder 'Models'), we copy it to our Desktop and change it's name to fire10.4ds, and next we copy file fire00.4ds again to our Desktop and rename it to fire20.4ds. All three files (fire00.4ds
, fire10.4ds
, fire20.4ds
) must be pasted into folder 'Models'.


 


 


 


 




And now sth special for those who fancy Snow Mod Addon for Mafia 1 :lol:  - how to put snow plugs into the game ?


 




In Snow Mod's files we look for file named TruckB00.4ds and we change it's name to TruckA00.4ds. Next, we cut (Ctrl X) this file from folder 'Models', paste it into our Desktop and rename it into TruckA01.4ds. In the next step, we do the cutting three times and we change it's name three times - into TruckA10.4ds, TruckA11.4ds, and in the end TruckA12.4ds. And, finally, we put our four files (TruckA01.4ds
, TruckA10.4ds
, TruckA11.4ds
, TruckA12.4ds
) into folder 'Models'. From now on, we'd see snow plugs crossing through Lost Heaven. But when you enter it, it will change into regular truck.


 




How to solve that problem ?


 




In order to solve it, we need to copy file TruckA00.4ds to our Desktop and rename it to TruckA10.4ds - and then copy file TruckA00.4ds into the Desktop and rename it into TruckA20.4ds. At the end, we copy these files (TruckA10.4ds
, TruckA20.4ds
) to folder 'Models'. From now on, we will be able to drive snow plugs without any problems.

You need to extract folder 'Models' using Mafia Data Xtractor. If you want to replace some cars, follow my instructions here [url=/forums/10/3559]http]

It's very short and easy procedure. It can be done in two ways:


 




First method


 




Find folder named /pc/sds/police_char and change it into police_char1


 


 




Second method


 




Find the same folder as shown above and simply delete it (but it's important to make a backup before deleting).


 




It's useful when we want to drive police cars freely (as it's known, they're wanted by the real police).


 


 




And now surprise - how to turn the beacon on without LUA scripts or sth similar ?


 




It's enough to press a key, which is used to change radio station - default is , (coma) or . (dot) on the keyboard. I discovered it when I realised that there's no radio music in a cop car  " data-emoticon="" srcset="/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/smile@2x.png 2x" width="20" height="20">

I'm gonna show you how to install Free Ride v2.0 for Joe's Adventures, because lots of players have troubles with installation. Let's go then!

Real Driver Mod allows us to listen our favourite music while driving the car, use the turn signals (in every car, except fire brigade car and some prototypes) and also in police cars Schubert Extra Six series turn the police siren on.


 




To install this mod, you will need to download three things:


 




-> Mafia 1 tool called DCED




-> Mafia 1 tool called Mafia Data Extractor




-> And this pack


 


 




1. At the very beginning, we download the pack
and extract it to our Desktop.




2. Next, we run MDEx
and extract folder MISSIONS.




3. Then we run DCED, we choose 'Open' option and we look for file scene2.bin (e.g. it can be scene2.bin file from folder FREEKRAJINA
- in this way mod will be working outside the town, but only at a daytime). On control panel we click 'Edit', and then 'Import' - then we choose proper files. We add them one by one, but it's important to save scene2.bin file at the end.


 




IMPORTANT!





It's recommended to make a backup of scene2.bin file, cause DCED is like to damage these files.


 




4. Finally! We run Mafia and set controls in this way in 'Car' section (they're set in this way in order not to corrupt with other controls):




Primary jump key (Q) - left turn signal




Secondary jump key (F) - right turn signal




Secondary car horn key (K) - police siren




Works only with two police cars - they're Schubert Extra Six Police Fordor and Schubert Extra Six Police Tudor.




Primary hide weapon key (H) - music player




To make it working, we put into folder SOUNDS/MUSIC ten (and not more!) audio files with our favourite music - and what's more - they must be in MP3 format and their names must be: 1.mp3, 2.mp3 and so on to 10.mp3.


 




Known bugs (checked by me)




-> Sometimes music in the player turns off automatically (and we can't do anything with this)


 




One more thing




-> In the pack there's also included cop car model Citroen XM Police - it's an addon and it's not required to run the mod.

Thanks to this tutorial you won't have to download Mafia 2 Soundtracks from the internet :lol:


 




1. Download a tool for Mafia 2 called Mafia 2 Audio Extractor




2. Run file m2ae.exe and click 'Open' and then choose folder with music, e.g. pcsdsmusicRadio50delta. Then mark the files you want to listen and click 'Open'.




3. If you want to save them, click 'Save All'.




4. If you want to convert them to MP3 or other format, you can use a converter called Format Factory 3.0.1


 




Well, in this four easy steps we can have our favourite music saved on our disc. That's it.

1. Extract archive and run the program.




2. On the control panel choose menu 'File' and then 'Open'. Then go to pcsds_enfmv directory and open any file you want from this directory.




3. After opening, you'll see list of files - look for file with *.bin
extension. Click it with right mouse button and click 'Extract'.




4. Go to folder where you have extracted the file and open it with Notepad.


 




In this way you can look through all dialogues presented during the game. Fast and easily.

If anyone has a problem with getting some mod to work, this tutorial is good for him.


 




First reason for that can be not ticked 'True Color' option. Open file Setup.exe, look for 'True Color' option and tick it. Mod cannot work if the following options are not ticked, too - they're 'Low detail level' and 'Compressed'. They shouldn't be ticked if you want to see textures correctly. However, on weak computers they should be ticked to have fluent game speed.


 




Second (and I hope the last one) reason could be original (not modified) rw_data.dll file. To make things good, it's recommended to use Mafia Data Extractor. Launch the tool and when it asks to patch that file, click 'Yes' and from now on, everything should be alright.

Chapter 4 - 'Ordinary Routine'


 




1. Near Central Hoboken underground station, we see an empty square and above we can see a light turned on.


 


 




Chapter 7 - 'Better Get Used To That'


 




1. When we will talk to Luigi, he will thank Tommy for saving Sarah.


 




2. When we are using Mafia Con, we can bind a key for flying around the city. We get our car and go to West Marshall Bridge (leading from Little Italy to Central Island; and it's closed at this moment). We stop here, get out of our ride and fly to the other site of the bridge. In this way, we'll be able to see three cars parked on the other site of the bridge (one of these is a yellow Lassiter).


 


 




Chapter 8/9 'Whore/Priest'


 




1. When we walk around the building nearby the Corleone Hotel, the police won't shoot at us.


 




2. In Corleone Hotel, in one of the rooms we can find a knife (and thanks to him, we can do our mission




stealthily).

Chapter 11 - 'Omerta'


 




1. When we press action button near our boss, he will tell us that he's missing Frank.


 




2. When we press action button near a bartender, he will tell us that this action with Frank has Don already shaken.


 




3. I've encountered sth interesting in the country. While I was chasing the feds escorting Frank to the airport, the driver got stuck between the column and some bushes. So I had to kill the driver, steal their car and drive Frank to the airport! But we can't open it so early in the game! Can you believe it ?


 


 




Chapter 12 - 'Visiting Rich People'


 




1. We can extinguish the lights in the mansion with our gun (just like in a church, simply shoot at it).


 




2. After Salvatore opens the inlet gate, we approach it and when the loading screen appears, we click right button on our mouse - in this way, the car we reach the mansion will be spawned in the garden with Tommy and Salvatore inside that car (works for every car).


 


 




Chapter 13


 




1. When the cutscene at the parking lot is played, try to write 'cumdal' (without quotes) on your keyboard. In this way, another Tommy will appear near the entrance.


 


 




Chapter 15 - 'You Lucky Bastard'


 




1. When we press action button near Salieri, he will tell us that Sergio is a moron.


 




2. When we press action button near Luigi, he will be curious how is Tommy's relationship with Sarah.


 


 




Chapter 16 - 'Creme De La Creme'


 




1. When we press action button near Salieri, he will tell us to send a message to Morello before killing him (he will order us to say few words to him).


 




2. There are three ways to finish this mission:




-> Standard - airport, when we shot him down




-> Very rare - Morello crashes in his car, we get out of our transport and kill him using 'Lupara'




-> The most effective - we follow Morello till he reaches the brigde, which is not finished and he falls from above with his bodyguards in their car. At the end, that car... (see yourself  :cool: )


 


 




Chapter 17 - 'Election Campaign'


 




1. When we press action button near Salieri, he will tell us that he hates politicians.


 




2. When leaving the prison (after destroying a padlock at the gate and before opening that gate), we get rid of our guns and FBI checks us out and then we are on our way. It's because that guy seen at the sewer entry sold us out to the feds - ofc. we can kill him, but the feds will check us out anyway. When we try to escape from the feds, they are shooting at us. We also can see a hearse parked nearby.


 


 




Free Ride


 




1. We shoot the wheels off in the car, where there's a driver inside and we steal it. Then we get into that car and the new wheels will appear (the old ones will be visible on the road).


 




2. In Morello Lounge Bar, when in Chapter 3 was a gate at back of the parking lot, there's a transparent wall - and we can go through it (in this way, we can infiltrate Morello's parking lot without any mods).


 


 




Free Ride Extreme


 




1. Do you remember that mission when we're following a guy and carrying a crate ? Well, when we are finishing it, it says us to put this crate on the ground. When done properly, we do this thing - we kill this guy and when we are starting a car that we were awarded with, it explodes.


 


 




Rest of the findings (I don't remember the mission where they occur)


 




1. We can turn on Salieri's gramophone using right mouse button (It's in some mission, not FR or FREx).

Here we can post anything, which paid our attention during playing Mafia 2 " data-emoticon="" srcset="/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/smile@2x.png 2x" width="20" height="20">


 


 




Chapter 1 - 'Old Country'


 




1. In this chapter, Vito is immortal - it can be checked easily; just stay at the firing line of MG42 - yes, the screen will go grey, you'll fall but you'll be still alive.


 




2. However, you can die in hard difficulty mode - discovered by Cipész Misi



 


 




Chapter 2 - 'Home, Sweet Home'


 




1. When Joe picks Vito up at the train station, in the moment they're running away, if you look closely, you will see a dog running in the street.


 




2. When Joe and Vito are drinking in the bar, we see a girl near the bar looking at Vito. It's Gina, who's working as a prostitute in 'Garden of Eden' Cathouse in Oyster Bay. She's also featuring in chapter 5 (some guy hit her car), 13 (she's in the bath) and in Joe's Adventures (mission 'Witness - Frozen Memories').


 




3. If you look closely, near OPA building you'll see five military trucks riding somewhere (when Joe says that he doesn't like reading   ).


 




4. At Vito's mother Apt. on the first floor we see a cat jumping from the window.


 




5. After a fight, we are going over Joe's, crossing the street and we see a pair, which has an argument. When her husband goes away, Vito suggests repairing her car (in Mafia 2 demo we can gain an achievement this way). After that, woman pays Vito off tenderly.


 




6. Having the police deleted, we steal Jefferson and... no red dot appears on the map. We don't have to restart mission - it's needed to go to any service station to change plates and then we can go over Mike's.


 




7. During our travel to Mike, Joe tells us funny things about flirting with girls


 




8. When Joe takes us to the bar, in the sky we can see some aircrafts flying - finding & screen by Mohamed



 







 




9. Walter Coupe has second tuning level - discovered by Shot



 




Chapter 3 - 'Enemy Of The State'


 




1. When we arrive to the docks, we must park our car somewhere. Wherever you park it, after cutscene with Steve (when Vito says that this job is not for him), you can see it parked near the doors where Steve is standing.


 




2. When Derek asks Vito about his father and hears, that he's dead, he pretends he doesn't know anything about the reason of his death.


 




3. Before doing mission in OPA (in an alley leading to the entrance) we see a hobo sitting on the ground and drinking booze. When we stay near him for a while, he will ask us to give him some money. Then, the following action is available after pressing 'E' key - it's 'Give hobo a dollar'. After that, Vito says 'Don't spend everything on booze' or sth like that.


 




4. After infiltrating OPA, it's needed to turn the alarm off.

1. When there's a cutscene at the jewellery store, when Joe and Vito are escaping, we hear police sirens - and one of them seems to belong to Smith 200 Custom Police Special (but he's available only in summer) - but it's not heard very well, so you'll have to keep your ears opened.


 




2. When we are on the roof, we get rid of some cops and when we approach to the edge of that roof, we would see a cop standing near the entrance and makin' some weird moves.

2. After using MG-42, we can take a sandwich from nearby table.


 




3. Returning from El Greco, we can hear an announcement about shooting in a distillery at Misery Lane 233.


 




4. After taking MG-42 from Harry and robbing a gun store, no cops show up - discovered by hahalala



 


 




Chapter 6 - 'Time Well Spent'


 




1. When we are looking for Leo, we see crouching guy, who says: "All your base... all your base belongs to us". It's a quote from game called "Zero Wing".


 




2. When we approach a sentry from the front, he will hit us with his baton.


 


 




Chapter 7 - 'In Loving Memory Of Francesco Potenza'


 




1. At the beginning, we see a cutscene and Vito saying: "Galante wasn't lying". In that moment we can see police bus driving nearby.

2. When we are chasing the Greasers, it's possible to catch and trash them (but I'm not sure if there are not needed some hacks; anyway, see it)

Chapter 9 - 'Balls And Beans'


 




1. Before Vito is about to track Luca, his auto must be parked near Freddy's Bar. Wherever we will park his car, during cutscene we will see it parked along upper road anyway.


 




2. This I've seen myself - while Luca was escaping, he broke his engine and mission was failed 'cause he didn't reach his target.


 




3. At the slaughterhouse, we can ask a guy repairing his car, how to enter the slaughterhouse.


 




4. When we will sink our car in a dirty water completely, Vito will say: "Sorry, I forgot my pants".


 




5. When we kill some of Clemente's guys with our gun or using our hand (from the back) - mission will be failed. But when we will fight using our hands, nothing will happen.


 




6. After finishing mission, Vito's suit is stinking horribly. We have two ways - dress up or not. When we won't dress up, Eddie will say that Vito could dress yourself up before visiting Maltese Falcon Bar. We will be ordered to go to one of the cloth shops, then.


 


 




Chapter 10 - 'Room Service'


 




1. When we will supercharge & repaint our car before doing the mission and when we reach the cutscene when Joe kills Clemente, at this cutscene we will see that our car has been downgraded (custom tuning, custom painting).


 




2. When we are returning to our villa in Greenfield, we can hear the news about the shooting in Empire Arms Hotel in the radio.


 




3. When Vito is ordered by Leon to arrive to Lone Star to pick Joe up (when Joe kills Leon accidentally), after dragging his dead body to his car's trunk, we could encounter a situation when the cops would arrest us (even if our car is not wanted). Maybe they were programmed to know about that body ?


 




And one more interestic thing - "Leon" and "Lone" are anagrams (words, which were formed by moving the letters). Leon is the bartender's name and Lone Star is the bar's name.

Chapter 11 - 'A Friend Of Ours'


 




1. When Henry visits Vito in his villa, after short talking, we can get in his car and leave. After a little while, he will spawn at the passenger's seat. It works for all characters we are cooperating with.


 




2. Other general glitch - when some characters (e.g. Joe) are talking about mission, they don't pay attention that we are driving too fast or we trash someone etc.


 




3. We can escape with Leo from his villa without being spotted by Henry! It's enough to follow this procedure]finding & screen by hahalala

Chapter 12 - 'Seagift'


 




1. When we are driving to see Bruno, Vito, Joe and Henry are mentioning about shooting and explosion in Empire Arms Hotel - and also about dead Clemente.


 




2. When Vito, Joe and Henry go to see Wong, they're talking about some guy from Falcone's family.


 




3. And now sth which gives reason for thinking - who were the fake cops at the Seagift magazines sent by ?


 




4. After kicking the door at Sea Gift magazines, we can see low quality dead bodies - finding & screen by Mohamed



 







 


 




Chapter 13 - 'Exit Of The Dragon'


 




1. When we are chasing Wong and when we get too close to his car near his restaurant, his driver will accelerate a bit more and he will start running away. If we won't catch him, mission will be failed.


 




2. After cutscene at the restaurant's door, we see two aquaries in the wall. The Chinese shoot at these and water flows out of the aquaries and we see one fish, makin' desperate moves due to lack of water.


 




3. When we are inside 'Red Dragon' restaurant, we see an old mandarin walking towards us.


 




4. After getting out of Chinese restaurant, in the radio we can hear the news about shooting in Chinatown.


 


 




Chapter 14 - 'Stairway To Heaven'


 




1. When we are in Greenfield, we can see our villa trashed completely.


 




2. When we are in Greenfield to kill Thomas Angelo, in the radio we can hear a song which is a reference for Mafia 1 - that is "Django Reinhardt - Belleville" (in Mafia 1 played on Central Island).


 




3. After killing Tommy Angelo, we see two guys chasing us. They seem to be Thomas's guards. One of them calls support from the police in Greenfield, revealing yourself as agent Cox. But in Mafia 1, the guy who protected Thomas, was inspector Norman.


 




4. When we deliver Joe to Kingston and we hit him with Smith Thunderbolt, our car will get damaged and our health will be less, too.


 




5. When we sink our car at the docks, after getting a gun from Derek and leaving his office, we will see it flying out from the water!


 




6. At the construction site, we can kill our first three opponents stealthily - using our hands. If we're lucky, we can find some grenades.


 




7. In the radio we can hear the news about shooting at the construction site.


 




8. When we pay off to Bruno, he asks Vito for his surname and when he hears, that he's named Scaletta, he mentions his father and says, that Vito is better with paying off than he was.


 


 




Chapter 15 - 'Per Aspera Ad Astra'


 




1. After conversation with Leo, we can kill the driver and then take care of Leo and Chu. It's difficult, because when you shoot the car, mission will be failed. You have to shoot the driver!
