    So, it’s been a long time since anyone has heard anything from me on the modding front and it’s time for a new beginning.

    This is the story of Antonio Lazzara, a Made man at the top of his game in 1930s America.

    I love it, the desk and the stove are reminders of the opening page of the game….very nice.

     

    I was trying to peak out the windows of the video to see if you put it somewhere, or no whereÃâà <img src="/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/wink.png" alt=";)” data-emoticon=”” srcset=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/wink@2x.png 2x” width=”20″ height=”20″>

    Everything looks great man.Ãâà 8)

     

    Apart from 1 thing, the boiler is much too large, it should be 50% smaller, a boiler that size would heat probably 2 apartments. But other than that, brill job man, love the additional small details etc, great stuff. <img src="/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/smile.png" alt=":)” data-emoticon=”” srcset=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/smile@2x.png 2x” width=”20″ height=”20″>

    Ahh, that’s a shame that the boiler can’t be smaller, but no biggy I guess, and yes I am thrilled too people love the looks of the building. <img src="/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/smile.png" alt=":)” data-emoticon=”” srcset=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/smile@2x.png 2x” width=”20″ height=”20″> I look forward to making more buildings for you Asa and or others that request a custom building to be made.     Hey Asa,

     

    As I was thinking about your room there it struck me that I really liked the lighting you did on it. Its one of those things a lot of people overlook when looking at things, but its really a supper job, the tile is dark and dingy and the corners are darker than the rest of the room….very nice

    Update

     

    The mod will not feature a whole city that is available to freeroam in.

    Instead, mission areas will include sections of road with detailed pedestrian and interactive activity.

     

    I planned it to be this way from the start, and this way I hope my love of detail will shine in this mod!

    I favor #1Ãâà a little more moody, and little more 1930’s….light bulbs weren’t that good back then

    Maybe you could lower the brightness a bit but it should definitely be stronger than in screen 1.

     

     

    Another suggestion I have for this is to change the light color to a whiter tone. It looks a bit too yellow, but maybe that’s just me.

     

    Yes, you’re right. It’s seen in the second picture – it’s a bit too brightÃâà ;D

    LOL Cole I was going to use the word mysterious too…..but it sounded too…mysterious

     

    Indoor lighting with bulbs was very yellow in the 30″sÃâà (they hadn’t invented the soft white bulb yet, let alone florescent) The colors should be warm…IMHO

    Thanks for the feedback, I decided to make the map abit brighter because the furniture as Darren said, there is no lightmaps on the furniture, I will say that by toning the brightness down it brings out the furniture more, as it is now the furniture is still abit bright with it’s new illumination, I can tone it down abit, just saying though that the problem will remain but more evident due to darker room, and yes Matteo you are right, there was no soft white lights etc, bulbs were mainly yellow, the apartment maintains a yellow glow to it all, just the furniture makes things awkward, trust me I prefer photo 1 because it is very dense, but to cope with the game I believe the best is to do like how the storyline maps look like, where they’re bright in lighted area’s, and of course, in the apartment, near the bed, it is still quite dark, only area’s with light bulbs are a tad bit brighter to cope with the furniture within the game lights. There is still a very strong depth of colour.

    The lights do the room more better then the old one, it’s more realistic and same with the Mafia 1 opening room.

    So, essentially it’s like this. I have run out of inspiration for a while (I do have this problem occaisionally) and I’d like some ideas as to where Antonio goes after he leaves his apartment (this will form mission 1), so that we know what locations to make/which direction the mod is going in etc.

     

    Any suggestions?

    Antonio leaves his apartment, after a call concerning a whiskey bust, Antonio is directed to meet up at the log construction site outside of China town exit in the countryside, Antonio then follows the other police cars to the whiskey bust and arrives at the Dam and Antonio among his pther prohibition agents, set up at the end of the Dam in an ambush fashion and wait for the trucks to cross, then a shoot out happens killing the drivers, and one gangster gets away and Antonio is told to chase him, Antonio chases him down and beats him up to get questions answered, then once he gives up who he is working for, he is arrested and taken to the precinct.

     

    I think that is a pretty damn cool level, no?

     

    I think it would be brilliant to play as Federal Prohibition Agents, kinda like BoardWalk Empire.

    Well, if you like, just have Antonio in a hoodlum family, not related in a sense of a made guy, but a small time group of thugs, kinda like the thugs you beat up in Mafia I’s storyline with the bats, and Antonio with his thugs, go and steal liquor from Morello’s shipments, and resell them to clients around town, Wich is still fantastic.

     

    I feel doing the “MADE GUY” with a top family has been done too much, with all due respect of course to the other modders.

     

    I think it’s time to flip that with this mod, and if you like rename the mod… “Prohibition Warfare”

    Right, some new details on the mod:

     

    It will be set in New York, during the roaring ’20s; a time of booze, broads and big money

     

    You will be working for Al Capone, who was currently at the height of his power

     

    Every location in the game will be built from scratch, nothing from the original missions will be used. For example the apartment, city street and country lane leading out of Manhattan we’ve seen already were completely built from scratch. Mike and I share the building process. I designed and furnished the apartment, he built, textured and lightmapped it. I built the area of city surrounding his apartment and the country scene above

     

    There will not be a whole city, only very detailed areas (both interiors and exteriors), so that my love of detail shines through and I am able to spend time and care producing both the cutscenes and the missions

     

    This will be my last mod before I go off to university and likely never mod again; so I’m going to make this an impressive one using all my knowledge of scripts, triggers, detectors, animations, particles, lights and cutscenes

     

    I hope you all enjoy it!

    Sounds brilliant Asa, also concerning Dialogue, I REALLY want to stay away from the reading game, let’s bring in vocal dialogue, I think the easiest way of doing that would be text-to-speech, here is a sample…

    If we use text-to-speech systems, we can REALLY bring the mod to life, the only let down for me on The Commision Mod is all the reading, don’t get me wrong RubyDragon949 DID AN AMAZING JOB, INCREDIBLE JOB actually, just to really sink into a story you really need to hear the dialogue, it’s hard to sink in the story when always reading.

    I love the vid, concerning uniquely created scenes, there is no need to go and make an entire seperate countryside, Mafia has a brilliant, and breath taking countryside, there are so many parts of that countryside soo many Mafia fans have not even explored yet, there is no need to spend all that time building a unique road when there is tons and tons of em’ in the main countryside, plus it’s awesome to go through those nice farm fields with the dam and the bridges all shaded etc, I do not want to be dis-respectful at all Asa, just saying that doing unique countryside is not needed at all, but doing your own city area is something I agree with entirely.

    Asa are you inspired from “BOARDWALK EMPIRE”?Cuz thats a HBO tv series about mafia acted in early 20Ãâôs .its really good, guys who dont know it yet you should check it out it really defines the real mafia and the prohibition times in america.

    I mean. This. THIS. Is nothing short of…well, mindboggling work.

     

    People go around saying my Commission Mod is a contender for the best mafia mission mod. But I am by no means a humble man. I’ve never thought this. I’ve always admired the work of you and Michal Safanik so much more. You guys are my idols.

     

    You must keep up with this. This is great stuff. I love the man in the window looking down on you and Billie. How on Earth did you ever figure out how to cut a hole in a model and implement an interior on the other side like how Illusion did it? If you were to teach me this I would be greatful. After all, we’ve all got to do what we can to keep Mafia alive.

     

    I had better calm myself down now before I just faint over the sheer awesomeness of these screens.

     

    Keep on this, man. Don’t let life, computer failure, anything get in the way of sending this to the can. You absolutely have to finish it.

    Thanks for all the kind words guys! This was the kind of appreciation I used to love on MS and kept me at modding!

     

    Over the weekend my computer went down (I have to reload Windows every 6 months or so), so I’m in the process of reloading everything including Mafia, 3ds MAX and Photoshop (which will take until Wednesday evening I’d imagine)- but when it’s all done I’ll continue working on this right until the very end, posting screens and videos as I do <img src="/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/wink.png" alt=";)” data-emoticon=”” srcset=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/wink@2x.png 2x” width=”20″ height=”20″>

    Right. Just an update on who’s doing what in the mod.

     

    Asa = Idea, storyline, scripting, lightmapping, modelling of outdoor locations in the city (back alleys, sections of city, rooftops)

    As always you posted some nice “secret” screens about your mod, which are beautiful.

    How can you say that? You, I believe, have been here more a year, and if what happens – better to share with all and make fun trouble! In addition, a ‘Mafia’ alive all alive, and it’s true!

     

    And if you do decide to go, which is very sad, it would publish the better all your achievements so that everyone can continue your work. After all, I’m sure that in the harmonious group can get a good job, you just have to believe, because faith creates miracles. Otherwise, work, a lot of work lost – how many unreleased versions! – we should see your mod, I have not seen…

     

    And, perhaps, it is only temporary: still can return to started… After all, don’t need for someone to do the mod in a hurry, don’t need to see on the time! Just for you… And if there were a lot of projects – to refuse least favourite, and take on the best, for the one doing that, because you get the most pleasure.

    Thanks everyone, currently I’m finishing off scripting the location shown in the last screenshot, while also working on modelling a new building in 3DS Max.

    My chief modeler, Mike Bruski, is busy at the moment so I’m having to model things myself which is taking a long time as I am nowhere near as good as he is! So, if anyone is willing to help me out for the next week or two that would be greatly appreciated.
